Speaking of Friends and Money

If you are a lot like me, talking to your friends and family about your online business can be a bit challenging. Never mind the guides and places that tell you how to approach them, they usually are your hardest customers to convert. But try you should and your online business should be a source of pride and joy. Communication is the key here and you should keep the lines of communication open. I have given family members business cards to pass out for me and sometimes that is a good way to break the ice. If you are inviting them to an opportunity meeting, take the time to explain how important it is to you and thank them for accepting your invite. Introducing them to products your business offers is another good way to let them know about your business. Often friends and family make the best customers even if they do not join you in your business. Taking free online marketing courses can help you with your sales technique and there are lots of these around. Take the time to get solid at learning about the basics of your business and be able to explain them. You don't have to know everything but you should know the basics. Having friends and family that are familiar with the way the internet works can be an asset. Places like Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites are great places to promote your business using a profile and you can send family and friends to your profile to check it out. One of my business involves a club with a network of members offering discounts and I take advantage of handing them a card and explaining how to use it. Having a product that has something that they use or can save by buying it from you is something they will appreciate. First, be proud of your business. Your pride and confidence will do more to sell your friends and family on your business than anything else. Next, be courteous and informative. Your friends will be interested if your product has something of value to them. Don't be pushy and don't insist if they are not interested. You can't sell the world but you can be professional and keep your friends and family looking over their shoulder at your business.
